The L8Pro App: Early Access for Legionella Consultancies

The risk-assessment app I use on my own surveys is opening to other Legionella consultancies. What it does today, how it handles AI, and how to join the waitlist.

In August I mentioned a tool I was building alongside the assessment work. It is now the app I use on every survey, and I am opening it to a small number of other Legionella consultancies. This post covers why it exists, what it does today, and how to join the waitlist.

Why I built it

Anyone who has done this work for a while knows the pattern. On site, a clipboard or a tablet with a Word template. Half the plant rooms have no signal. Sixty photos on the phone, to be matched to the right tank later. Back at the desk, the readings get re-typed, the recommendation wording gets copied from the last report, the numbering gets fixed and the logo gets checked.

None of that is the assessment. It is admin, and it is where the evenings go. In a consultancy with more than one assessor there is a second problem: reports read differently depending on who wrote them.

I wanted one place where the survey, the evidence and the report live together, so nothing is typed twice and every report has the same structure.

What it does today

  • Surveys on a phone or tablet, with or without signal. Everything you enter is saved on the device first and sent to the office when there is a connection, so a plant room with no signal does not stop the survey.
  • HSG274 Parts 1, 2 and 3 in one survey. Domestic hot and cold water, cooling towers and evaporative condensers, and other risk systems such as spa pools, humidifiers and emergency showers. Each system keeps its own plant, monitoring table and photos, in the app and in the report.
  • An expert-reviewed question library. The questions have been reviewed line by line by an external assessor, the changes are in, and each question carries its guidance reference.
  • Ratings and recommendations. Each answer is rated Satisfactory, Low, Moderate or High. Anything below Satisfactory becomes a recommendation with a priority and a timescale, in wording you can edit for the site. The client gets the action plan as an Excel file, with columns for their responsible person, target date and completion.
  • A branded PDF report. Your logo, colour and footer, set once, on every report from every assessor.
  • Photos as evidence. Photos are numbered, and each finding points to the photos that support it. A Moderate or High finding needs a photo before the report can be issued.
  • QA, then finalise and issue. An administrator reviews each survey, can return it to the assessor with notes, and finalises it. Issued reports are locked. A correction is reopened with a reason and issued as the next revision, and earlier revisions stay downloadable.

AI, honestly

There is AI in the app, and I want to be plain about what it does. It is a button, not a default. On a few fields (a recommendation, the reasons for a rating, and the site and system descriptions) you can ask it to turn your own notes into report wording. You read the draft first, and nothing goes into the report until you accept it. It needs a connection.

It does not survey, rate or sign anything. The rating, the observation and the sign-off stay yours, and you can ignore the button entirely and lose nothing.

Who it is for

Small consultancies: an owner and a few assessors who know ACoP L8 and HSG274 well and want the reporting to take less of their time, without handing over the judgement.

Early access is opening to a small number of consultancies first. I am looking for people who will use it on real surveys and tell me plainly what needs to change.

Joining the waitlist

The waitlist is at the end of the home page. Joining means one thing: I will email you when early access opens for your consultancy. You get one confirmation email now, and nothing else. Your address is used only for L8Pro early access, and you can unsubscribe at any time by emailing rafal.wrona@l8pro.co.uk. The privacy policy has the detail.

If you would rather talk first, get in touch.
